36th Medical Detachment The 36th Medical Detachment, also known as the36th Medical Evacuation Battalion, was a unit of the United States Army thatserved during the Vietnam War. Its primary mission was to provide medicalevacuation (medevac) support, transporting wounded and injured personnel fromthe battlefield to medical facilities where they could receive propertreatment. Medevac units played a crucial role in saving lives during theVietnam War by quickly evacuating casualties to medical facilities for urgentmedical care. Aircraft and Personnel: The 36th MedicalDetachment operated helicopters equipped for medical evacuation. Thesehelicopters were specially configured to accommodate stretchers and medicalpersonnel to care for wounded soldiers during transport.
