PACIFIC MEMORIAL STADIUM The former home stadium of the University of the Pacific \"Fighting Tigers\" was known as Pacific Memorial Stadium, later renamed Stagg Memorial Stadium. Located on the university\'s campus in Stockton, California, the stadium was dedicated in 1950 and served as a central hub for the university\'s athletic events, especially football. The stadium was named in honor of Amos Alonzo Stagg, a pioneering figure in American football who significantly contributed to the sport\'s development and had a long coaching career, including a tenure at Pacific. Stagg Memorial Stadium had a seating capacity of around 35,000, providing ample space for fans to support the Fighting Tigers. The stadium was known for its vibrant game-day atmosphere, with students, alumni, and local supporters creating a spirited environment. Over the years, it hosted numerous memorable games and was a key venue for the university\'s sports programs. However, due to financial challenges and a decline in the football program, Pacific discontinued its football team in 1995. The stadium continued to be used for various other sports and community events but eventually fell into disuse. In 2012, the university decided to demolish the aging facility to make way for new developments better suited to the current needs of the campus.
