Rare Museum Quality Paris Porcelain Cup and Saucer Early 19th century
Superb Paris porcelain Empire Era cup with gold-adorned foot, biscuit relief and finely detailed winged mythological figures with trumpets on both sides. Oval medallion on the front features a Goddess portrait framed in matte and shiny gold. Cup interior has a gold background with grapevine decoration painted in beige and brown tones. The handle begins with a Goddess head and ends with a swan's head.
The saucer has a white center surrounded by a wide gilded band.Although unmarked, as was often the case in early period Paris Porcelain, the Neoclassical style, fine detail and impeccable craftsmanship leads one to believe the cup and saucer set was likely crafted by Pierre-Louis DAGOTY or Sevres Manufacture.
Measurements:Cup - 4.5”H to top of handle, 3 1/8”DSaucer- 6 1/8” D
Condition:Excellent antique condition, especially when one considers its age. No evidence of crazing, chips, cracks, hairlines or discoloration. Very minor gold wear. Please see pictures for details.
