Early surviving 7th Cav document! Original and authentic 1867 muster roll of Co. C, 7th US Cavalry regiment. The muster annotates August - October, 1867. The muster depicts Col. A.J. Smith commanding, which is appropriate as he was designated colonel of the regiment upon recommendation by both Grant and Sherman when formulating the historic unit. The Lt. Col. of the regiment was obviously no other than George Armstrong Custer. The date of this muster roll would have been when Custer was on trial for his court martial at Ft. Leavenworth. The muster roll is double sided and still very much readable. There are some tears here and there as depicted in the photos. There is some staining sporadically too with folds and creasing in the paper. But what do you expect for surviving documents this old just barely after the end of the Civil War. The document measures approximately 31x21 inches. It is currently placed inside two heavy pieces of plexiglass for display purposes only, but this will NOT be included. The document will be taken out and shipped by itself via priority mail. Once again, the plexiglass housing the document is NOT included. This will also explain the lighting and reflection issues depicted in the photos. This is a very cool piece. There are so many names and cool details on the document, but I have not done too much research on it. NOTE: Custer\'s name is NOT depicted on the muster roll. I picked this up about a year and half ago at one of the relic shows I was set up at from our acquaintances at the Union Drummer Boy, as they had just picked it up at a show out west. I\'ve had many inquiries about it, but I thought I would do some more research on it before passing it along. Unfortunately I was unable to get to it as I wanted. Listing lower than I have into it.
