Pottery or stoneware, relief, 1.0L, pewter lid. Found in two different versions.

Version 2 Fahre wohl du k�hler Trank, Lindenwirtin jung u. schlank, sch�nste Augenweide!� (The wondering lad drank away coat, hat, and walking staff, sadly saying, �I�m leaving. Farewell you cool drink, Linden hostess young and slender, a lovely feast for the eyes!�)
Text on both versions is from the poem �Die by Rudolph Baumbach in 1876 and set to music in 1878 by Franz Wilhelm Abt. The poem honors �nnchen Schumacher (1860-1935), perhaps the most famous innkeeper in German history and a popular figure with German students.
The lid is damaged and off. So please see pictures. And because this is so old, the paint is very faded from its original vibrant colors it once possessed.
