Rare Early 1882 New York Assembly Theodore Roosevelt Signed Photo 22 Signatures:

This listing is for a rare pair of signed photographs of 22 members of the 1882 New York State Assembly, including Theodore Roosevelt. I believe this to be one of, if not the earliest, Roosevelt signed piece on the market.

Photographs are housed in their original frames with one frame retaining its paper label for Mcdonnald and Sterry out of Albany, NY. Sterry was the main political photographer in Albany during this time, it is noted that politicians of both parties favored him.

The frame that includes the Roosevelt signed photo measures 26.25 inches by 22.5 inches wide. Starting on the top left-politicians include: Orville P Dimon, A.A. Carley, John McDonough, Theodore Roosevelt, M.C. Murphy, John Shomley, David Gideon, James N Monk, A Goddard, Jeremiah Higgins and John McManus.

The second frame measures 28 inches by 24 inches wide and this is the frame that retains the photographers label. Included in this from top left are Aaron Fuller, A. Godard, Isaac L Hunt Jr, G.W.W. Robertson, John O’Brien, Townsend D. Cock, Jacob Cooper, Moses Engle, James J Costello, Illegible (having trouble with this one-I thought John J Shelly?) and George M. Fletcher.

As you can see the paper does have foxing/staining on both, new owner may wish to have this restored. Frames have some expected wear. New owner may wish to have the frame backs attached better, they were not on when I found them, I have them temporarily attached. I believe glass is original, it is old and has some wave to it.

The Star of this show is the early TR photo and signature. Great early photo of Roosevelt and a nice clean signature.

This is perhaps the earliest signature of Roosevelt that has come to market a rare opportunity to add a great piece of NY history to your collection!
