Lake Minnetonka is located about 16 miles west-southwestof Minneapolis, Minnesota. Thelake lies within Hennen and Carver counties and is surrounded by13 incorporated municipalities. At 14,528acres, it is Minnesota’s ninth largest lake. One of those communities on the lake is MoundMinnesota, which derives its name from the “Indian Mounds” in townthat were not built by the local Dakota Native Americans, but theirprehistoric ancestors. One of the hotels on the lake was the Bartlett Hotelin Mound, which was built on Bartlett Boulevard in 1883, both namedafter its founder Edward Bartlett. It had 16 rooms of available space in the day,later they would be turned into apartments and the name was changed to “LakeviewApartments”. The apartments (theBarlett Hotel) existed until a fire destroyed the building in 1985.hometownsource It is, however, still on this card, publishedby “S.E. Ellis” and postmarked in 1806. The card is in excellent condition, exceptfor postmark imprints on the front. The endsseem to have been trimmed, which I just noticed, but the image is clean andclear, and I thiink the card survives as a rare find, priced accordingly. The colors on the card may vary due to the scanner settings and screen projections. Unless otherwisenoted, I use Wikipedia, Playle\'s and Metropostcard for research and try to be as accurate as possible. Corrections appreciated.
