Rare Civil War U.S. Model 1855 Musket Socket Bayonet Collins & Co. Marked:

Model 1855 U.S. Socket Bayonet measuring 21\" overall with a blade length of 18\" with a inside muzzle diameter of .783\". Sharp US marking on the ricasso, the side socket, right side looks somewhat like it says US. right in front of the mortise. The top of the socket is marked, C&Co. which stands for Collins and Co. the makers of the Bayonet. Bayonet has a gray silver finish with some light brown age patina. The Model 1855 was NOT blued, they were all finished bright. (FYI). These were used on the Model 1855, 1861-63 Percussion Muskets of the Civil War. A very good example with scarce markings. No scabbard. See photos.
