Rare piece of University of Montana history, a handpainted porcelain transfer plate made in Vienna Austria.These were produced before the war and this one has both the transfer of the early university as well as gold trim and handpainted flowers.The university began in 1885 and is known for its Renaissance Revival style architecture of its original buildings.The plate measures 8 1/2\" in diameter and is clearly signed on the back--see photos.The condition is good vintage with no chips, cracks, breaks or crazing.It does however, have wear to the handpainted border of the place, gold trim and handpainted flowers.See photos for details.The transfer of the college in the center is in good condition and the colors are sharp and clear.This is a rare jewel for anyone who has ties to the University of Montana.
