A most wonderful rare find ~

A gorgeous early metallic silk brocade.

Italian & most likely Florentine.

I consulted with both a French & English early textile expert/dealer &

in terms of age, it is most likely 17th century. If it goes in to the 18th century, it would be the early part.

I salvaged this gorgeous fragment from a larger panel which unfortunately had a lot of extensive damage. I was pleased to be able to save a few portions of it which I’ll be listing.

Condition for its age is actually good. There will be some wear as seen in my photos but it is intact & strong.

It is still a delicate textile to be handled carefully.

I consider it a document or important specimen piece more than a piece for any heavy use projects.

So, possibly a cushion front or framing, table piece etc…Definitely not a piece which will be handled a lot.
