William Woodward\'s Career:Moved to New Orleans & was Involved in Cotton Business C.1850\'sMoved to Chicago, Then to New York in 1860
In 1869 - He was Associated with Jay Gould & Gold Movement.
Succesful in the Gold Market in 1870 with a fortune of $3,000,000Owned Considerable Stock in Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad Company.
Discovered his Brokers were giving out his positions by employing Detective.Ceased all Business / Trading Operations.
In May of 1871, Frank Work (Special Partner of Scott, Strong & Co.)convinced Mr. Woodwardto go in on a bad deal. This involved market manipulation.
This ultimately led to Mr. Woodward losing all of his money and declaring Bankruptcy.
Sadly, he died frominjuries sustained while rescuing a woman from a burning building.
