Rare 1911 Postcard East Side of Toppenish Avenue Washington Yakima County WA:
$81.99

This rare, real photo postcard features the east side of Toppenish Avenue Washington in 1911. It shows an angle and look of the city that I haven\'t seen in any other postcard before.

Toppenish is a city in Yakima County, Washington. A railroad was constructed in Toppenish in 1883, which put the town on the map, so to speak.

For centuries, the site was roamed by the Yakama Indians and other Plateau Tribes and was included in the Yakama Reservation, established in the year 1855.

The town included the three-story Hotel Toppenish, which you can see to the right side of the postcard, at the time described as \"quite a pretentious structure for a small town\" by one of the residents.

This particular postcard is by a couple, one of which is Harry. In the postcard, it says, \"Harry has a chance for work if he wants it. Will look up our house tomorrow.\" They took the picture on the front of the postcard because it\'s the hotel they were staying at, Hotel Toppenish.

If you look at the hotel in the image, you\'ll see that the couple marked to indicate which room in the hotel they stayed at with X\'s. There\'s also an arrow with what looks like a heart just above it. It appears this couple was in love and seems to be moving into their new house in Toppenish. It\'s pleasant to think about them starting a new life in this town and the adventures they had.

Please inspect the pictures, as they give the best representation of condition. May have discoloring, edge or corner wear, marks, creases, fading, smudges, corner or edge bends, tears, or corners missing.
