This rare 1910 real photo postcard features the Woodward, Iowa fire department in a host cart race competition against other nearby fire departments.Approximate size: 5.5 inches x 3.5 inches "Notice me running. Will send you another card of the tournament." is written on the back.
The photo at the end is a picture of Woodward, Iowa in c1907, shown for reference.
While it lasts, I do have another postcard of this same fire department one year earlier, standing by their fire engine with their dog mascot. By the year 1910, the department had been serving the community for about 27 years. The department has been providing fire prevention, suppression, and emergency medical services to the central Iowa community of Woodward.
Woodward is a city in Dallas County, Iowa, United States. It’s part of the Des Moines–West Des Moines Metropolitan Statistical Area and is home to the Woodward-Granger Community School District’s middle school and high school.
