Very Early Cast Iron Patent Antique Apple Peeler, PATENTED 1902,HUDSON PARER DESCRIPTION:Scanshows it all.....a very early, scarce antique cast iron apple peeler/parer. PATENTED IN 1902, ONE OF THE EARLIEST AUTOMATIC APPLE PEELERSEVER INVENTED!!! Over 120 YEARS OLD, a Victorian "automatic"APPLE PEELER/Parer !!! Niceearly iron machine generally, with an interesting, geared design. VERYINGENIOUS OPERATION. Cast in it, in large letters is "Manf.By Hudson Parers and Patent date. Itworks by turning a crank, through 4 geared wheels and a crank. Thereis a metal 3-pronged "spear" where the apple is skewered tohold it in position; the apple turns as the crank revolves. There isa replaceable blade on a springed arm that also turns following thecontour of the apple, cutting off the peel. These peelers actuallywere designed quite efficiently, especially for such an earlymachine. This one is in excellent condition and complete. It works and APPEARS THAT IT CAN STILL BE USED TODAY !!! It even hasthe springs that help control the cutting blade and the originalblade. Also has the original thumbed screw on the bottom bar thattightens it to a table or bench to stabilize it. Mainwheel is 5" diameter. Measures about 8" x 8" x4". Crank is 2 " long. This can mount vertically orhorizontally. IN EXCELLENT CONDITION !! HAS NICE AGED PATINA, andalso makes a wonderful period decorator for the kitchen or otherrooms. Youdon't see this type of early machine very often in such completecondition, ESPECIALLY A MARKED AND SUCH A NICE EARLY DATED ONE. Niceearly item from an old Massachusetts estate.
