Roswell is a small townabout three hours away from Albuquerque, New Mexico. To get there, upon arrivalat the Albuquerque airport, you will need to rent a car and travel down a long straightroad to find it. Roswell is filled with interesting spots and places to eat andrelax. It looks a lot larger than a small town but definitely has a small townfeel. There are plenty of places to stay and people travel from all over theworld to visit this location deep in the New Mexico plains.

Specifically, becausemany years ago an incident occurred here that has never been fully explained.People from all over the world are divided about what really happened and thelines have been draw between those who believe and those who do not. It’s aconversation that will draw a friend or a foe to you in the blink of an eye.

Driving around Roswell, you will see goofy looking alien bill boards, alien faces, child friendlyaliens and every kind of alien advertising you can think of. And then, you can gofor blocks without a mention. There is an interesting International UFO Museumand Research Center in the middle of town. And if you want, you can feel thevibe. It’s there!

Not just on the carspainted with green with aliens, or those souvenir shops lined along the maindrag. But interestingly, in the sense of a mystery that has drawn the attentionof many a curious soul finding their way here to see this place for themselves.I believe people will continue to come to Roswell and the millions that believea UFO crashed here in 1947, will continue swayed in their belief that it reallydid happen.

Regardless of your opinion on the matter, people will continue to relentlessly pursue souvenirs and tokens from thistown. It’s an international craze that has a life of its own. Possibly, a lifefrom out of this world.

1947 Roswell UFOIncident

In early July 1947 an incident occurred in thedesert just outside of Roswell, NM. Many people have heard of the Roswell UFOcrash, but very few people know the details of the incident. The followingaccount of the 1947 UFO incident was taken from public records, frominformation provided by the International UFO Museum and from the press releasefor UFO Encounter 1997. On the evening of July 3, 1947 Dan Wilmot, a respected business owner, and hiswife were sitting on their front porch when they saw a bright saucer shapedobject with glowing lights moving across the sky at 400-500 miles per hour. DanWilmot estimated that the unidentified flying object was about 20-25 feetacross. The flying object appeared from the Southeast and disappeared to theNorthwest. Dan Wilmot reported his unusual sighting to the Roswell DailyRecord. In early July W.W. (Mac) Brazel, the Foreman of the J. B. Foster Ranch rode outto check his sheep after a night of intense thunderstorms. Mac Brazeldiscovered a large amount of unusual debris scattered across one of the ranch\'spastures. Mac Brazel took some pieces of the debris, showed them to somefriends and neighbors and eventually contacted Chaves County Sheriff GeorgeWilcox. Suspecting that the materials described by Mac Brazel might beconnected with military operations, Sheriff Wilcox notified authorities at theRoswell Army Air Field (subsequently renamed Walker AFB) for assistance in thematter. Major Jesse Marcel, the Intelligence Officer at the 509th Bomb Group, was involvedin the recovery of the wreckage which was initially transported to Roswell ArmyAir Field. On July 8th the Roswell Daily Record\'s headline story revealed thatthe wreckage of a flying saucer had been recovered from a ranch in the area. When questioned Major Jesse Marcel disclosed that the wreckage had been flownfrom New Mexico on to higher headquarters. Colonel William Blanchard, Commander of the 509th Bomb Group, issued a pressrelease stating that the wreckage of a crashed disk had been recovered. Asecond press release was issued from the office of General Roger Ramey,Commander of the Eighth Air Force at Ft. Worth Army Air Field in Ft. Worth,Texas within hours of the first press release. The second press releaserescinded the first press release and claimed that officers of the 509th BombGroup had incorrectly identified a weather balloon and its radar reflector as acrashed disk. The Ballard Funeral Home in Roswell had a contract to provide ambulance andmortuary services for Roswell Army Air Field. Glenn Dennis, a young Morticianwho worked for Ballard Funeral Homes, received several phone calls from theMortuary Officer at the air field prior to learning of the recovery of thewreckage. Glenn Dennis was asked about the availability of small hermeticallysealed caskets and for his recommendations on the preservation of bodies thathad been exposed to the elements for several days. His curiosity aroused, GlennDennis visited the Base Hospital that evening and was forcibly escorted fromthe building. This behavior only incited Glenn Dennis\' curiosity and hearranged to meet a nurse from the Base Hospital on the following day in acoffee house. The nurse had been in attendance during autopsies performed on\"... several small non-human bodies ...\". Glenn Dennis kept drawingsof aliens that the nurse had sketched on a napkin during their meeting. Thismeeting was to be their last and Glenn Dennis could learn no more about thealien bodies, as the nurse was abruptly transferred to England within the nextfew days. On July 9th the Roswell Daily Record revealed that the wreckage had been foundon the J.B. Foster Ranch. Mac Brazel was so harassed that he became sorry hehad ever reported his find to the Chaves County Sheriff. In the following days virtually every witness to the crash wreckage and thesubsequent recovery efforts was either abruptly transferred or seemed todisappear from the face of the earth. This led to suspicions that anextraordinary event was the subject of a deliberate government cover-up. Overthe years books, interviews and articles from a number of military personnel, who had been involved with the incident, have added to the suspicions of adeliberate cover-up. In 1979 Jesse Marcel was interviewed regarding his role in the recovery of thewreckage. Jesse Marcel stated, \"... it would not burn ... that stuffweighs nothing, it\'s so thin, it isn\'t any thicker than the tinfoil in a packof cigarettes. It wouldn\'t bend. We even tried making a dent in it with a 16pound sledge hammer. And there was still no dent in it.\" Officers who hadbeen stationed at Wright Field in Dayton, Ohio (where the wreckage was taken)at the time of the incident have supported Jesse Marcel\'s claims. Dr. Jesse Marcel, Jr., eleven years old at the time of the incident, accompanied his Dad during the retrieval efforts. Dr. Jesse Marcel Jr. hasproduced detailed drawings of hieroglyphic like symbols that he saw on thesurface of some of the wreckage. Dr. Marcel testifies regularly on his beliefthat a UFO of some type crashed in Roswell.
