Joseph Cook (1838-1901)was an American philosophical lecturer, clergyman, and writer,educated at Yale, Harvard, and Andover Theological Seminary, was a Congregational pastor in various pulpits who also lectured throughout the world. Under the auspices of theYoung Men\'s Christian Association, he became famous with the \"Boston Monday Lectures\" attended by thousands at Tremont Temple in Boston in the late nineteenth century on the general subject \"Modern Skepticism.\" He oftenused these lectures to attack other religious teachings, includingMormonism and Christian Science. #11287
