RARE pallasite meteorite from Russia, SEYMCHAN Huge 2.168 kilogram endcut:

This is a STUNNING specimen of theSeymchan Pallasite. This meteorite was found in Magadan District,Russiain 1967. Several specimens were found then, and they were all iron, so Seymchan was originally misclassified as aniron (IIE) meteorite, but around 2001, a Russian expedition to the find area discovered many more large masses, with a total known weight ofover5000kilograms! Many of those new pieces were chock-full of olivine crystals and Seymchan was reclassed as a unique pallasite.

Seymchan is an extremely beautiful meteorite, with large green to gold colored crystals, and gorgeous etch pattern. Many pieces are very high metal, some multi-hundred kilo specimens completely lack olivine. Seymchan is well known for its amazing stability, it simply does not rust. You can store it almost anywhere, I have had pieces for many years and have yet to see oxidation anywhere on them. This is one of the best pallasites known, relatively inexpensive, good color crystals, nice etch pattern, and stable enough for any climate.

This specimen weighs2,168 grams (4.77 lbs)and is asuperb endcutwith nice green crystals, perfectly finished on the face, nice metal and largegreen crystals. It measures110 mm by70 mm on the cut face by75 mm from end to cut face.
