** RARE Vtg Signed PETER OMPIR Colonial Man Strawberry Hand Painted Metal Box Case Folk Art Toleware ** A very rare and hard to find piece. It is gently used and in nice shape with just some minor normal use wear (see pictures). This piece is made and signed by Peter Ompir (1908-1979), pre-eminent Folk Art painter of the 20th Century. It is beautifully hand paintedwith theunique folk art farmhouse toleware style that Ompir was known for. The base of the boxmeasures about 10.5 inches long and 4 5/8 inches wide (see pictures). It is a little bigger toward the top where the lid attaches. It measures about 3.75 inches tall counting the lid (see pictures). The top of the lid does have some small denting. It is hard to see unless you look at the right angle and the light hits it just right, and I tried to point it out in the pictures (it is hard to show in a picture). There is minor paint wear where the lid attaches to the main box (see pictures).The bottom is signed by Peter Ompir (see pictures). You get exactly what is pictured.
