D E S C R I P T I O N

Thisis a gorgeous modernist mid-century hand made ceramic ball ashtray madein Quebec, Canada in the 1970\'s by Chalvignac. The ball ashtraymeasures 5½\" high and 7\" in diameter. There are three cigarette restson the sides.

Maurice Chalvignac was a Quebecceramic artist who emigrated to Canada from France in 1957. He mademany beautiful pieces, including lamps, wall art, vases, bowls,ashtrays, and more. His work often evoked an organic feel, combinedwith the flashy orange and gold tones of the era. A true Canadian midcentury icon!

This ashtray departs from the usual Chalvignac art pottery colorschemes which makes it all the more versatile and accessible. Thestunning red glazed ceramic finish produces a mirror like surface, andthe space age or futuristic design is classic modernist.

This amazing piece will blend into your mid-century / modernist /danish modern / pop art / retro decor scheme seamlessly. It will lookgreat on your favorite mid-century teak table. It is also perfect forthe minimalist who prefers to showcase the most striking pieces.

It\'s in terrific condition with bright and vivid coloring and a highgloss finish. There are no chips, cracks, breaks, hairlines, fleabites,crazing or repairs. There are only a few tiny manufacturing flawsmentioned for complete disclosure that are common for these types ofpieces. Theside of the piece still has its original Chalvignac sticker and thebottom retains its original protective felt.

Needless to say this piece can be used for other purposes rather thanashtray. It makes a beautiful stand-alone decorative centerpiece foryour coffee or side tables and can be used to store or display otheritems if so desired.
