RARE USMC Named General Officer Evening Dress Uniform 1929-1959 Prisoner of War:
$1499.00

Great Uniform to a General Officer who served in Nicaragua, WWII, and the Korean War. He was a pilot in Nicaragua, Commanded a Night Fighter Squadron in WWII, and was held as a Colonel after being shot down in enemy territory in Korea in July of 1952. He was later promoted to Brigadier General after retiring in 1959 after 30 years of Service to the United Stats Marine Corps. Bgen Frank Hawse Schwable was a Naval Academy Graduate, and these were his initial issue Evening Dress Blues upon his commissioning in 1929. The Top/Blouse is in great shape with a few flaws as shown. There's a slit in the inner red liner, which is the worst of it. The trousers are included, but may or may not be originals. I can't read the name on in them, but it appears the first two initials are "W.B." I've read it was not uncommon for set of these evening mess dress blues to be "recycled" among the officer corps because of their high cost. So when one Marine left the service they may have been sold or gifted to another newly commissioned officer. At any rate, they're a very hard to find USMC uniform item in their own right and the main flaw I could find is a single moth hole about the size of a bb along the left side waist area, so presumably this would be covered when this uniform is displayed.
This uniform is guaranteed to be as described, authentic, and owned by General Schwalbe for the lifetime of your purchase. These evening dress uniforms are absolutely beautiful and rarely come to market with this kind of history attached to them.We are selling a massive, museum-quality quality Collection, so please check out our other listings...
