RARE US PRE CIVIL WAR HORSTMANN NEW YORK PHILADELPHIA OFFICER SWORD
Up for your consideration is this rare Horstmann sword with original scabbard.
The sword is in overall great condition, without particular damages. The tip of the scabbard was probably metal, and is missing.
The sword is clearly marked "HORSTMANN" on one side of the blade, and "NEW YORK PHILADELPHIA".
Horstmann opened a branch store in New York in 1830, and his two sons joined the company in 1843. This two facts lead us to think that the sword has been produces in between this two dates (1830 - 1843).
The handle is nicely decorated, so it could be an antique dress sword.
