Authentic early Vietnam war, 1970's U.S. Navy Enlisted SEAL uniform insignia. It's made by made by famous maker, "Vanguard" and has their Vietnam War period "V-21N" makers mark. There's also the tell-tale backwards "n" specific to navy/seal badges in the 70's by companies like Denmarks, Antaya, Vangaurd, and N.S. Meyer. This badge is the official uniform size, and was one of the early, first-pattern originals meant specifically for enlisted SEALS. The packaging is marked "STERLING SILVER" but the badge is exactly as an original should be. It's Silver Filled as marked. It's likely these were just the card backings available at Vanguard during the time 1973/74 was when all the major manufacturers switched from Sterling to Silver Filled, so maybe they didn't have Silver Filled cards made yet. Either way, these older SEAL badges rarely surface, and this one is guaranteed completely original - uncleaned, and in pristine original condition.Unless your Silver SEAL Badge has a scalloped back and is made by one of the above manufacturers it is a later badge produced for the collectors market.
