RARE Japanese Thousand Faces Chocolate Pot with 5 Matching Cups Set, Porcelain, Teapot, Antique - Preowned
Artist hand-painted each piece of this collection set. Each face wears a distinctive expression with different strips of colors with gold gilding used for all of the line and design work. What makes this set rare is the artist work is extremely detailed as they continue their painting on the inside of the cups!! Painted cherry blossoms create a band around the top that is between a thick upper and lower gold gilded band. On the base of each piece bears a Japanese painted marking. The 1000 faces design was used during the period of 1880s through the 1920s with periodic replicated patternsoccurring throughout the years. Beautiful intricate design! Excellent Condition! No Breaks, Cracks or Chips! As with most aged painted pottery, some loss of gold gilding and or paint is to be expected. Please view photos that are posted for additional condition description.
