About this shell: Morum (Herculea) Ponderosum - \"Heavy Morum\" - RARE - HIGHLY SOUGHT OUT
Size:32.91 between 90-160 feet in sand - 1977THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE SEROUS COLLECTOR. Very Rarely presented or offered as this species is held tightly for those lucky enough to possess. This species is \"one of the most sought-after harpid rarities in the Pacific Ocean\" (Chong Chen 2013-2024)This extremely rare specimen was one of nine that my family found during ur scuba diving adventures on Okinawa during 1974-1978. We kept our best two specimens while using the others for trading with other shellers to expand our collection. There are no defects, scars, discolorations - it is SUPERB. This is part of our late father\'s large collection of seashells he obtained while stationed on Okinawa, Japan in 1974-1978. He was an avid scuba diver and seashell collector.My sister and I were his diving buddies. Each with a Hawaiian backpack that he made for all of us, we would wear double 72s so that we could go down deep, usually 100-140 feet. The long decompression times were spent looking in every nook and cranny of the coral wall at various depths. His interests in shells grew from more than the Indo-Pacific species when he engaged in trading his shells with some of the prominent collectors around the world. Ted\'s shells have been thoughtfully stored for the past 50 years and are in excellent condition. My sister and I are listing shells after researching them for quality and uniqueness. We are not conchologists and are giving our opinion in the condition and quality of the shell when compared to other listings. As many images at various angles are provided to help you decide.
