TODAYS ITEM FOR sale IS: a very rare piece that I\'ve been watching in it\'s resting place 18 years. The owner is ready to sell. It is a family piece handed down from a German immigrant to his sister upon his death, and then to her son upon her death. The immigrant was an iron worker and was hired by Julius Dietzmann\'s Iron Craft Works in Los Angeles, on South Figuroa. Below you will find a copy of one of the known business cards from their location at 2330 West Washington Blvd. L.A. Calif. It is common knowledge by those who follow the story of Scotty\'s Castle that many of the wrought iron furnishings in the castle were built by Julius Dietzmann\'s Iron Craft Works. Here are a few citations: 1. The lighting fixtures are perhaps the most ornate examples of metal work on the Ranch. Most of them were produced by Julius Dietzmann Ironworks in Los Angeles. It was not unusual for MacNeilledge\'s draftsmen and those of Dietzmann\'s to collaborate on their designs. 42 Lighting fixtures were of a special-enough status to warrant men in Dietzmann\'s employ to come to the Ranch in order to install them. From HABS No. CA-2257 (Historical American\'s Building Survey). 2. From Scotty\'s Castle: An interior history of Death Valley Ranch. 1931. The wrought iron bases and brass centers for tables were made at Dietzmann\'s Ironcraft Works in Los Angeles. 3. In the impressive Images of America book series Mr. Robert P. Palazzo has written four works on Death Valley his latest in 2017 being \"Scotty\'s Castle.\" Palazzo was gracious to let me use his image of a planter and a business card for this offering. Palazzo with his vast knowledge of the castle states the Dietzmann\'s made the large wrought iron planters that have bee located at various times in the central patio courtyard, the lanai, and the second floor veranda. This original planter was part of Dietzmann\'s overstock and the German immigrant ironworker who made it was allowed to purchase it and take it home. Yes this is THE immigrants family that is selling the planter.The ornate planter is 27 1/2 inch from floor top top edge. It is 34 inches across the bottom at widest part and 28 1/2 inches across the top. There are two bands across the bottom at 6\" above the floor and 10\" above the floor. The planter area is 6 inches deep. Separate from the planter is a custom made galvanized insert with a hook on each side to assist in lifting. This kept the plants and water from reaching the iron work. Condition is EX. This hand wrought iron piece with brass is a beautiful piece fitting for any Spanish Revivial, Arts and Crafts home.
