This antique advertising sign from the Chicago Daily News is a rare find for collectors of merchandise and memorabilia. The porcelain sign features the iconic logo “the daily news prints more help wanted ads than all other Chicago papers combined” of the newspaper and is an original piece from the 1930s.

I do not believe this was a thermometer, I have talked to porcelain sign advertising experts in the field at sign shows and a lot of them believe this to be a corner or wall sign. The thermometers for the daily news had a different location as to where the thermometer and type set would be. This is original and the previous owner sprayed a clear coat or a shellac on it for some reason which gives it that wet look.
