A Rare RPPC w/ significance at several levels ...Featured is a circa 1913 real photo postcard depicting a young woman with her bicycle holding a Bells Systems Telephone & Telegrams Logo Card ... it follows she is a Telegraph Girl who Delivered Telegraphs/Telegrams via Bicycle ... unclear if it is in Mexico or Texas (sent to Sabinal, Texas, but the girl looks Spanish). The note has gay overtones: "Dear Hettie I am sending you this picture of mine I hope you wont get scare I am awful ashame of myself cause I am [?] good looking at all, but I love just the same."
1913 was a year with a lots going on between "Ma Bell" and the Federal Gov's from an "anti-trust" perspective. Maybe the company had photos taken of their bicycle delivery "boys and girls" for promotional purposes? The company logo certainly figured predominantly in the photo.** Domestic Shipping for this PC by USPS Ground Advantage to include tracking and insurance. For the moment, shipping price quoted includes ground advantage plus insurance for the value of the card. Rigid mailer. Check out our other offerings as we get them listed. Happy to combine shipping where able.
