RARE C 1911 RPPC WEST EPPING NH TRAIN DEPOT JOHN L TRUE STORE KRUXO PAPER NM:
$100.00

Featured is a Rare circa 1911 Real Photo Postcard depicting West Epping, New Hampshire Center ... the key buildings are the W Epping Train Station, the 2-story building at right (hugely unusual for a Depot to have 2 Stories), and the J (John) L True & Son (Almond) General Store at left.
J L was also the stationmaster and was assisted by his son in that capacity as well. Key to this Station\'s operation was the supply of wood provided the steam engines coming through ... the station was one of the primary providers of wood needed by the trains. Quite a few of the town\'s men were employed in cutting and bringing the constant supply of wood needed to the station. Wood was such a big part of the Depot\'s reason for being that there were frequent fires as the wood supply always on hand was vulnerable to sparks; the building did ultimately burn.
The Store, once the Depot burned, was sold to one Cliff Beede who cut the long building in half and moved it to the \"State Highway\" (now Friend Street). In 1941, when Route 101 was straightened, the State moved the building to the new Highway.
Thus, you have the story of the buildings pictured in the subject listing. I have never seen another copy of the subject photo and rarely are real photo postcards seen in such superb condition. It came from the collection of Bill Prince about 25 years ago. Domestic Shipping for this PC by USPS Ground Advantage to include tracking and insurance. Rigid mailer. Check out our other offerings as we get them listed. Happy to combine shipping.
