Fabulous Rare 19 century Napoleon III era and design damask napkins. Dating 1850-70. I think on the earlier side. These are really such a special set of 15 napkins.Stunning softly faded red damask boarder. Small elegant exquisitely hand embroider monogram SD. Meticulously hand sewn hems. The dealer that sold them to me was adamant that they are pure linen to me they seem to have a bit of cotton... Very hard to tell for sure sometimes... Lovely soft floppy high quality fabric never the less!
Wonderful for the collector, or just someone who wants to treat themselves to such a very special and rare set.
Condition: Excellent for age and use! They have been recently washed and beautifully pressed so I did not rewash! Three have small flaws that I noted. One with a small mark or two and a VERY faint storage line on one. One other has a red bleed on back that does not show much on front and a small worn spot see last phots.
Approximate size of each napkin 32\" X 27\" set weights over 4.10 lbsI do my best to accurately describe condition and point out major flaws, but condition is seldom perfect as one would expect from a 100 year old textile. Small marks and flaws should beexpected.The timeworn look and signs of their unique history is part of what makes them so charming and special!
