Disney “The Lion King” Shenzi plush by Douglas Cuddle Toys.

Disney plush by Douglas Cuddle Toys mainly served as promotional and display items to promote the 1994 release of Disney’s “The Lion King” movie. They were not mass produced for retail. Some plush were produced more than others, such as some of the Simba plush. The Shenzi plush you see here is one of if not the most rare of the Douglas TLK plush. These don’t usually leave private collections, and I have only seen two or three come up for sale on in the last 10-15 years.

I have taken a number of up-close pictures using only solid backgrounds and proper lighting to help potential buyers see the condition of this piece. It still stands (Douglas legs have a tendency to collapse with time). There is some weakening in the right front leg. The eyes and nose are typical, though if you look at the right side profile I’d say the nose is in better condition than most. Fur, mane, tail are clean and very soft…this was not used as a doll by a child! With a little push the tail looks great and stays perfectly intact (see pics!). If I give it a little pull you see some separation at the top (see pic #13). This is not an issue when displayed, and I decided I would let the new owner decide if they want to do anything with it. I never felt the need. Tags are clean, and the colors of the Lion King tag really pop giving this plush part of its distinguished look.
