This is an excellent set ofÉditions Philibert\'s famous erotic \"Le Florentin\" luxury playing cards, printed by Draeger Freres, with designs representing rich miniatureRenaissance-style paintings by French artist and designer, Paul-Émile Bécat. It is probably the best known of the Philibert decks on account of the slightly risqué artwork. These decks are widely regarded as some of the most beautiful decks of cards ever made. The Becat designs are said to be based upon paintings of the \"Old Masters\" that were destroyed by the fanatical and charismatic monk, Savonarola, at the end of the 15th century.This deck contains 56 total cards with gilt corners; 52 suited cards, two Jokers, a Title Card, and an unbacked card certifying the deck. These decks were a limited edition, 12000 decks created in all, of which this deck is No. 10493/12000. The cards seem to be standard size, measuring 94mm x 63mm, and have gold gilt at the corners. They will be shipped in a small felt bag with drawstring.
