Hello,These Scoops cards are highly desirable and they cross many genres of collectibles. Topps made these cards at a time when they were competing with Bowman for a larger portion of the trading card industry. Because of that, Topps did put effort into making these cards something of quality that the consumer could and should enjoy. The accompanying information on the back is often worth the read and contains details that may not be found in history books. For example, the Custer card mentions that after he died, his heart was removed and eaten by the person who killed him. While doing some extensive research with these cards, I discovered the top card in a five cent pack was the only card that had the coating, while each of the single card in the penny pack had the coating. Because of the art on the front of the card, the small percentage of cards that had the coating on them was typically removed. It is very rare to find these cards with coating on them...then to find them in higher grade. To give you a perspective on how rare these cards are, PSA has it that there are a total of 212 scratched Babe Ruth cards they have graded and ONLY a total of 5 Babe Ruth cards with the coating have been graded. As I go through and view the population report of the graded cards with coating, I continuously see where very minimal with the coating have been graded. The reason for this, they are EXTREMELY rare.AS OF 6/6/16 Up for sale here is a 1954 Topps Scoops STATUE OF LIBERTY UNVEILED #11 card that still has its original coating intact. PSA has been in business for over 20 years and they indicate they have only ever graded 3 of these and this PSA 6 is this is the only one to exist in this grade.
