This is a very unqiue billhead. It is to B. Brignola of Sutter Creek during the Gold Rush. This gentlemen is Bartolomeo Brignole, who owned Brignole Estate Co. General Store. There is an historical marker currently in Sutter Creek at the Brignole General Store. Is this connected to Rockefeller\'s Standard Oil Company that was started back in 1870? It moved to California but not sure the year. The men that flocked to Sutter Creek for the Gold Rush came with mainly the clothes on their backs and needed to buy food and supplies. Stuck in remote region, many prospertors coughed up most of their hard-earned money for most basic supplies. A single egg could cost the equilvalent of $25 in today\'s money, coffee went for more than $100 per pound and replacing worn out boots could set you back more than $2,500.
