There is approximately 6-12 pieces per lb.Listing is for 5 lb of Kona Tumbling/Cabbing sized rough. You will receive a 5lb lot of Kona Dolomite randomly scooped. These rocks are scooped at random and every lot may not have every color of dolomite listed above. Larger lots have a greater chance of having more variety due to the increase in number of stones in larger lbs lots. Stones in photos are representative of the ones you will receive. These are not polished, with the last 3 photos taken dry. All other photos are wet. Please note that is was a partially overcast day when several of the photos were taken. Look at the ones that are in the direct sunlight for a better approximation of what the colors will look like when polished. Kona will take a nice shine and polish, and also looks great as a more matte finish if you like. Due to the lower silica content, these will not be super glossy like an agate. Please see photos for more details. As with all rocks there may be fractures or imperfections and sold as-is with no returns.Named after the Kona Hills south of Marquette County, Michigan where it is found. Kona Dolomite is an ancient rock in which formations of fossil stromatolite (blue-green algae) occur. The stone is between 2.1 to 2.2 billion years old. These stromatolite formations are from some of the first life on earth. These fossil formations are found in the lower eras of the Middle Precambrian Period.Because of the great age, and due to the many trace minerals present, kona dolomite can be found in a wide variety of shades including pink, brown, yellow, cream, red and orange with shades of brown, cream, gray and black mottling, banding and lacing. BUT KONA DOLOMITE IS ONLY FOUND IN ONE PLACE IN THE WORLD......MICHIGAN's UP!Please let me know if you would like a large bulk order, and we would be glad to put one together.
