Selling this rare, vintage 1940\'s Pyrex primary mixing bowl set. This was the set that started it all! All of these bowls are the unnumbered variety, making this the oldest primary set. This set consists of a 1 and a 1/2 pint, 5 1/2 inch diameter Blue bowl; a 1 and a 1/2 quart 7 inch Red bowl, a 2 1/2 quart 8 1/2 inch Green bowl, and a 4 quart 10 inch Yellow bowl.

The oldest sets from the “1940s” were not numbered on the bottom. The markings on the bottoms of the 1940s ‘non-numbered’ bowls are only ‘T.M. REG.’ in an arch above ‘PYREX’ horizontally in the middle, and ‘U.S. PAT. OFF’ below in an up-facing arch.” The later 1950s - 1970s sets do have the numbers.You can also tell the older 1940s bowls from newer ones by the “thickness” of the bowl… the newer ones are thinner. As you can see, these bowls are thicker than others.This rare, Pyrex primary colors nesting mixing bowl set was introduced as the new “Color Bowl Set” in 1945. They are unnumbered and also have a thicker wall and more defined foot than bowls manufactured after 1950. All of these bowls are marked the same!

There are NO numbers on the bottoms of these bowls.404- Large yellow (4 quart). This bowl has wear on the top rim. Heavier utensil wear on the inside and most of the shine has gone from the inside base due to beater and whisk use. Has some small scratches on outside paint. Has a nice shine to it!403- Green bowl (2-1/2 qt). This bowl is in the best condition of the 4 bowls. Just a few scratches to the paint. Minor wear to the top rim. Very shiny and bright.402- Red Bowl (1-1/2 qt). This bowl still has a great shine. Many scratches to the paint and does have wear around the top rim.

401- Blue Bowl (1-1/2 pt.). Has a lovely shine to it. Minor amount of scratches to the paint. Very little wear to the top rim.

I AM NOT AN EXPERT WHEN IT COMES TO GAUGING THE CONDITION OFUSED OR VINTAGE ITEMS. I EXPLAIN AS MUCH AS I CAN AND TAKE MANY PICTURESAT DIFFERENT ANGLES TO SHOW GREATER DETAILS.
