For sale are nine large letter, linen, white border, divided back postcards. You can buy 1 or more of these postcards. You can pick those that you want.
Each has \"Greetings\" or \"Howdy\" as part of the front message. All but one card (Fort Worth) is by Curt Teich. The Fort Worth post card is by E. C. Kropp Co.
Amarillo, Dallas, Fort Worth and Waco are unposted and do not have writing on the card. The Texas card and the ones for Austin, Big Spring, Corpus Christi and Houston are addressed, have a written message and are posted. Corpus Christi is post marked in 1949. Houston, State of Texas and Big Spring are post marked in 1943. Austin is postmarked in 1944. Big Spring does not bear a stamp because it was mailed by a service man so it was hand marked \"free\" where the stamp would otherwise go.
The stamp on the Houston card is a green one cent stamp with the words \"Freedom of Speech and Religion, From Want and Fear.\" On February 12, 1943, a 1-cent green stamp was issued to promote the spread of the Four Freedoms throughout the world. The design is an allegory of Liberty holding the Torch of Enlightenment, below which is inscribed \"Freedom of Speech and Religion, from Want and Fear.\" Intended as a patriotic regular issue stamp, the stamp replaced the 1-cent National Defense stamp of 1940. It is referred to as the Four Freedoms issue and is Scott #908.Please see photographs or use the magnifying feature if that is available to you for an accurate depiction of the condition of this item.
