The “Sniper suit” was a camouflaged oversuit/coverall of the Yugoslav people’s army. It was designed and issued specifically for Yugoslav scouts and snipers in the first place as well as for paratroopers and was used exclusively by them. This was the first camouflage design of the Yugoslav Peoples Army and featured both a macro and micro pattern on it (and thus nicknamed“sand”). Because it was only a suit/coverall, it was not a dedicated uniform, but an oversuit exclusively intended to be worn over the standard-issue wool, non camouflage uniform, the M-55, or the later and newer, M-77. Like most other suits and coveralls, it was made out of waterproof canvas, with the fabric supplied by East germany. Two colour variations (dark and light) have been documented. Although primitive in design, the suit remained in unofficial service well into the late 1990s, despite the fact that was officially replaced in both usage and production back in late 1960s.

The oversuit had no pockets, but rather slits in the suit for accessing the pockets of the uniform underneath. There are loops on the suit for adding foliage and netting per users needs.

As previously mentioned, it was produced and used shortly; only from the beginning of 1950s until the end of 1960s, when it was formally replaced in both production and use by the new, M-68 MOL, a three-tone camouflage suit which was soon adopted by both scouts and snipers as well as paratroopers. However, it was still used during the Yugoslav wars, but in very few occassions (mostly by some YPA or later SVK and VSR sniper units.)

This suit is more like cover/oversuit used so dimensions are usually large, because it was meant to be worn over the uniform.
