$175.00

Post Offices Est. in American Colonies by Queen Anne of England 1710 Newspaper Offered is an original, historic, & collectible old newspaper: THE LONDON GAZETTE, England, Aug. 29, 1710* Establishment of post offices in American colonies
* Anne, Queen of Great BritainThe back page contains considerable detail on what is likely a very significant event in the creation of a formal postal system between England and the American colonies. The report includes: "Whereas Her Majesty has been pleased to direct, that a monthly correspondence be established between this kingdom and her dominions on the continent of America by packet boats to pass to and from Bristol and New York, between which last place and the several provinces, colonies and settlements of New-England, East and West Jersey, Pennsylvania Carolina, Rhode Island, regular inland posts are already settled; and others are about to be settled thro Maryland, Virginia, North and South Carolina..." with more.  Included as well are the: "...rates for the portage of letters and packets to and from the General Post Office in London and New York...".This is identical to the reports in the issues dated August 22 and August 24. It was common that documents of significance would be printed more than once.Single sheet, 7 by 11 1/2 inches, very nice condition. Please Note: All of our offerings are 100% authentic! We do not offer reprints or reproductions of any kind. They are guaranteed to be original!
Links to Archival Storage Options & Certificates of Authenticity Are Below! Historical reports may be beautifulor ugly, but they are always informative. While we rejoice in the beautiful (heroic, discovery, amazing feats, etc.), we at History's Newsstand also offer "the ugly" for we are determined to learn from the wrongs of the past - understanding, to do so, we must be willing to look these wrongs directly in the face and shout "NO MORE!". It is for this reason many Black Americans collect historic slave ads, Jews collect reports regarding the Holocaust, women collect coverage of the Women's Suffrage Movement, etc.. If you find any to be offensive, we agree! Hopefully this is an indication we are moving in the right direction.
