Porcelain Figurine Rudolstadt Volkstedt Germany Romantic Couple Birds Cage
A charming and lovely large figurine with very nice facial details, florals and use of color. The romantic couple is sitting in an outdoor setting and the male figure has a bird cage behind him that is open. He is showing the birds to the woman.
Measures 8.25 length. Width or depth is 5.25 inches. Height is 7.5 inches.She is holding a wreath of florals (of which part of the wreath is missing.) Her foot has a slight bit of damage and the bird in his hand has a small nick on wing. There is a speck of black enamel loss on his shoe and on the knee of his knickers. A loss of a small floral in the front. All of this does not detract from the overall feel and lovely display of this piece.It is marked on the base with a mark in blue that I have not been able to identify. I believe this is a Volkstedt piece from Germany and most likely dates to the latter part of 19th century or early 20th century. Beautiful colors. Please view all the photos. If you do know the origin/mark on this piece I would be most appreciative of the information!
