For sale we have a slab of petrified fossilteredowoodfromIndonesia.Fossil wood can be formed when organic tree matterisburied in mineral rich, oxygen deprived sediments. Due to the lack of oxygen, and not being exposed to the elements. The wood decays at a much slower rate. As it decays the minerals in the surrounding sediment replace the decaying organic matter. Once this process takes place you can be left with some unbelievably beautiful colored pieces based on the mineral composition.Before this, clams bored through the wood, their bore holes eventually creating beautiful crystal filled cavities.
