The Pairpoint plate number 74 was designed by Walder Engstrom and began pressing in 1979. The present meetinghouse was erected in 1840 during the time of the Second Great Awakening in New England and has been modified over the years. The new steeple was put in place in 1978 to replace the one lost in the 1938 hurricane. The cup plate commemorates the erection of the new church steeple. This Massachusetts memorabilia art glass was made in the USA. Handcrafted on Cape Cod using time-honored techniques, these 3.5 inch cup plates have subtle variations that highlight the artisan\'s skill. Each cup plate is crafted using a mold created with a hammer and chisel, and then pressed with molten glass using an antique press. This manufacturing process results in cup plates that are similar yet possess their own distinctive characteristics. Look closely and you\'ll find the artisan\'s initials and the Pairpoint trademark within the design.
