Gorgeous lucite display measuring 3 3/4" x 2 3/4" x 1" containing actual flown fragments removed from the Apollo 11 Command Module "Columbia" after it returned from it's historic mission July 16 - 24, 1969. One side of the display shows the iconic photo of Buzz Aldrin standing on the surface of the moon. The other side shows the launch of the Apollo 11 spacecraft. Both photos are in color.
The front and back of the display have 2 different color photos from the mission with 3 fragments of kapton foil, abrasive plug and heat shield from the Apollo 11 command module, Columbia. Each fragment measures about 1/4" x 5/16". These fragments include:

a piece of the gold Kapton foil that covered the command module
a piece of the ablative plug
a piece of the charred heat shield

The command module orbited the moon while the lunar lander flew to the surface of the moon.
This piece comes with a copy of the certificate of authenticity (COA) from the creator of this piece.
This will make an incredible focal point of any collection as well as an unforgetable gift.

These are the last of these Apollo 11 Lucites I have. When they are sold there are no more.

Why is the fragment embedded in the Lucite display instead of being removable? If the fragment can be removed, you'll never be sure if you are getting the real fragment you paid for or if it's been removed and replaced with something that's not authentic. When the fragment is embedded you can be 100% sure you get what you paid for.
