Christophe-Guillaume Koch [Bouxwiller, Bas-Rhin, May 9, 1737 - Strasbourg, October 25, 1813] was an Alsatian jurist, academic and politician. In 1787, Christophe-Guillaume Koch became rector of the University of Strasbourg. During the years following the revolution of 1789, the eminent professor was arrested and imprisoned twice for his conservative principles. Subsequently, he became the spokesperson and defender of the interests of Protestants. His interventions in Paris allowed the development of two decrees: that of August 17, 1790 which gave them advantages and freedoms and then that of December 1, 1790 which exempted Protestant domains from the sale of national property. From 1791 to 1792, he was one of 10 deputies from Bas-Rhin in the Legislative Assembly. From 1802 to September 1807, he was a member of the Tribunate which discussed bills and expressed a wish for acceptance or refusal. For services rendered to the nation, on July 14, 1804, he received the insignia of Knight of the Legion of Honor from the hands of Napoleon Bonaparte. On December 2 of the same year, he attended the coronation of the Emperor at Notre-Dame de Paris.

Marginal foxing, otherwise beautiful state of conservation.
