I\'m pleased to offer this rich set of two Chalcopyrite with minor Bornite from the Junction mine, Bisbee, Cochise County, Arizona. The specimens measure 2.65 x 1.43 x 1.38 inches or 6.72 x 3.62 x 3.52cm and 2.68 x 1.68 x 1.55 inches or 6.80 x 4.27 x 3.93cm and I learned that these two pieces fit together! They arrived in a box of specimens and were not taped or rubber-banded together and I originally thought to list these as separate specimens. Can\'t bring myself to do that now.
Chalcopyrite was the most important copper ore of the many underground mines at Bisbee. This set shows very rich and golden chalcopyrite with a film of iridescent bornite--the two minerals were intimately associated with each other at Bisbee and pure chalcopyrite was quite rare (with an emphasis on \"pure\").
In regard to Bisbee, I only rarely come across available specimens with specific locality information. They usually are credited only to Bisbee with no specific mine information. I just visited my favorite mining district--the Tri-State district of KS, MO and OK and specimens from here famously carry vague locality information as well.
