Pair of Buddha Bookends
Offered for sale is a pair of very unusual bookends of a seated Buddha. The Buddha is made from weighted plastic, probably xylonite, he is seated on a carved mount of Oriental rosewood. The plastic was created to give an impression that they were carved from ivory. The reverse of each upright has a tiny ‘Made in Japan’ sticker, the base of each Buddha shows a moulded ‘Japan’. They would date from circa the 1930's.Condition: Fair vintage condition, the mould seams are beginning open, yellowing to one Buddha.Please examine the pictures carefully, they are part of the description. While I do my best to reproduce the true colours of the pieces, they will vary slightly from system to system, and in actual viewing they will vary under differing lighting. All white spots are purely light reflections from the camera flash.Size: 17cm high, 13 x cm 10.5, combined weight is 1.1Kg.Shipping: worldwide tracking via Australia Post. They will first be wrapped bubble before packing securely in a solid box with lots of peanuts – earthquake proof. Our target is to ship within 1 business day of receiving cleared payment.
