Description

[Echizen Lacquer Ware]

Echizen lacquerware is a lacquer craft that has been made in the Kawada district of Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, and the surrounding area since the late Kofun Period(6th century).

The technique of making lacquerware has been nurtured in Sabae because of the large number of lacquer scrapers and the availability of high-quality timber in the area since ancient times.

The characteristics of lacquerware are that it has an elegant and shiny surface, yet it is light and strong.

The development of lacquerware has also been accompanied by the incorporation of decorative techniques from various regions, such as \"\"chinkin\"\" from Wajima and \"\"makie\"\" from Kyoto.

The items are manufactured in accordance with the needs of the times, ranging from bowls to trays, stacked boxes, confectionery boxes, chopsticks, vases, and tea ceremony utensils.

The lineup ranges from high-end tableware to daily use items.

[A good way to use lacquerware (Instructions)]

The care is simple.

The more the lacquerware is used, the more the surface will be settled down and look good.

<1> Please use it properly according to the original use and the purpose of use.

<2> After use, do not keep it in tepid water for some time.

Please wipe it with a soft dish towel after washing with tepid water.

<3> When stained with oil, please wash with the tepid water with dissolved synthetic kitchen detergent.

<4> Please wipe it with a soft dish towel without strongly wiping it after removing dust so as to preserve the shine.

<5> Please avoid using it in the refrigerator,

putting it under the direct rays of the sun and putting it in the place where the drying is too serious.

Its color and shape might be changed.

<6> Do not directly use it with a fire, in a microwave oven,

or on the oven. In such cases detachment of the lacquering, transformation, or catching fire may occur.

<7> When fingerprints present, please breathe on the area and wipe it with a tender dish towel.

<8> The smell of new lacquerware will be completely dispersed if placed in a rice box for a few days.

<9> Please keep the accessories such as chopsticks, a chopstick rest, a fork,

and the spoon in the place where children cannot reach in case of serious accidents.

When using it, please be careful not to let the children use them in a wrong way.

<10> Due to the constitution of each person, one may rarely get a rash due to paint and lacquer.

In that case, please consult with a dermatological doctor.

<11> Please stop using it when cracked or broken and a part of the product is missing, or

when the paint and the lacquer are exfoliated.

<12> In case of surplus weight on the product, please do not use it.
