PHARAONIC ANCIENT EGYPTIAN ANTIQUES 4 Statues For Sons God Horus as Ushabti BC

Item Description

“Hapi, Emesti, Duamutef, and Qebhasanov” are the sons of Horus and they guard “Osiris during his mummification, and then they guard the vessels of the four entrails (the canopic vessels), and they represent the four corners of the world.” Hapi embodied the flood of the Nile, and he was represented in the form of a human carrying aquatic plants on his head. His body shows the features of the male and female gender at the same time, so the features of masculinity appear in the muscles of his legs and arms, which symbolizes the fertility of the flood, and the features of femininity appear in the chest and abdomen, which symbolize the land that was fertilized by the waters of the flood. He was the master of the river, which brings growth, He is the lord of marsh fish and birds, which symbolizes that he granted the Egyptians these creatures along with the Nile itself. Therefore, he was depicted in the temples carrying offerings as offerings to the gods. Hapi was often embodied on the throne, tying the lotus flower and the papyrus plant with the symbol of unity, and this symbolizes His role in unifying the northern and southern parts of the country. Hapi lived in the cave from which the Nile flood emerged, and no special temple was established for the Lord Hapi. As for “Emste”, it has the head of a human, it is the spirit that protects the liver, and “Duamtuf” has the head of a jackal, responsible for guarding the stomach, and finally the jackal, or baboon, or falcon and human, and the canopic vessels carried covers with the heads of the four sons of the god Horus; Whose duty was to protect the internal organs of the deceased, and they are the deity “Emste”, with a human head, which is the spirit that protects the liver. “Hapi,” with the head of a baboon, is responsible for the lungs; “Duamutef”, with the head of a jackal, is responsible for guarding the stomach; “Qabhasanov”, with the head of a falcon, is responsible for protecting the intestines.

Many sources talked about the origins of the four sons of Horus, and the texts conflicted about determining their lineage. The pyramid texts mention that their father was Hor Al-Akhamimi, “Horkham,” while the coffin texts indicate that their father was Hor the Elder, while their mother was Isis. As for the Book of the Dead, it refers to The sons of Horus were their father, Hor, and their mother, Isis.

The Sons of Horus appeared in the Old Kingdom until the end of the Second Transition Era, and were depicted with human heads, although a few canopic vessels from the Middle Kingdom depicted all four Sons of Horus with falcon heads. With the beginning of the New Kingdom, another form prevailed, but without completely overshadowing the old form. For the covers with human heads, the heads of the male gods were replaced with animal heads, and in the period between the beginning of the Eighteenth Dynasty and the middle of the Nineteenth Dynasty, each of the four gods of Horus took on his distinctive animal form, so he became in his old human form, Hapi with the head of a monkey, and Duamut-F with the head of a jackal. The ugliness of a falcon-headed snowflake.

Preserving the body of the dead was another condition for life after death. There were four vessels in which the entrails of the dead were preserved, each of which was under the protection of one of the four sons of Horus, whose first mention was in the Pyramid Texts, which are considered the oldest religious texts recorded in ancient Egypt.
