Original USGI M1/M14/M16A1 Sling Early Vietnam Era MRT 7-62 Marked 1962 Colt 601:

Nice original US military sling, marked MRT 7-62. MRT stands for Mildew Resistant Treatment and was applied to canvas and leather goods before being sent to tropical environments, either when made or at a later date. This sling has the right markings to have been in use in Vietnam from 1962-1970 or later.

Sling is in good used condition. Some minor corrosion and patina on hardware and the typical dirt from use on a 50+ year old sling.

I have included several pictures of the MRT stamp from various angles and lighting brightness so you can judge for yourself what the marking is. I do my best to read these dates and list appropriately, the way the ink is on the coarse weave makes it hard to tell these dates in many cases, so I includephotos so you can judge for yourself if you agreewith my reading. Although in this case it is a clear and easy to read example compared to most.
