Original USAF Patch 3576 PTS Pilot Training Squadron Vance AFB Flight 3 Tigers:
$125.00

One nice original USAF patch for the 3576th Pilot Training Squadron Flight 3 \"Speedy Tigers\" at Vance AFB. This patch came from the collection of a fighter pilot who flew the F-105 and the F-4 Phantom, Colonel Wyrewood Anthony \"Goose\" Gowell. There are many more patches from him that will be listed separately.

I found a reference online that Gowell flew the EF-105F Wild Weasel sporting \"Golden Goose\" nose art with the 355th TFW out of Takhli RTAFB, Thailand in 1968. The last photo was found online, showing the nose art on that aircraft. In his earlier years in the Air Force, Gowell was a DSO in the B-58 Hustler aircraft of the 64th Bombardment Squadron, 43rd BW. He graduated at the top of his class from pilot training and went to the 563rd TFS at McConnell as one of the first fresh pilots to fly the F-105 with no prior flying experience. Gowell was the commander for the 39th TFTS from 1978-1980, flying the F-4. He was also the Deputy Commander for Operations of the 35th TFW at George AFB from 1982-1984.
