This is a hand painted African barber shop sign. Painted on wood. French Africa. Unknown origin signed by artist. The back has pencil markings which include numbers, some English, and what appears to be an Arabic message. Looking at the painting you can see pencil marks the artist used as lines to align their painting. This piece is really beautiful. If you collect African Art, African American Art, or own a Barber Shop this piece is for you. The frame is attached as part of the artwork. Look at pictures. Typical ware when considering was used as advertising in Africa. The size is 19 3/4” by 16 3/4” (roughly). Shipped well packed.
